Ayurvedic Perspective of Autoimmune Diseases
Vaidya Mahesh Sabade
Autoimmune diseases affect millions of people worldwide, with estimates suggesting that collectively they may affect around 5–10% of the population.
Ayurveda does not describe “autoimmune disease” as a separate category in its classical texts. Yet it offers a sophisticated framework involving Doṣa, Dhātu, Agni, Āma, Srotas and Oja to understand how normal physiological processes become pathological.
In this Clinical Immersion session, Dr. Mahesh Sabade will explore whether these concepts can help us understand autoimmunity and whether Ayurvedic pathology can explain the emergence and persistence of these diseases.
Dr. Mahesh Sabade is a distinguished Ayurveda Consultant with over twenty-five years of experience. He holds BAMS and MD degrees in Ayurveda, specializing in Medicine – Panchakarma, from the University of Pune.
