As the CEO and founder of Surrasa, Usha is motivated by the natural world and has a background in traditional medicine. Her goal is to create skincare and wellness products that are effective, holistic, and based on research, using functional ingredients derived from plants. Rooted in science and Ayurvedic medicine, Surrasa also produces natural, luxurious skincare and wellness products that incorporate ancient medicinal principles with modern science. As an Integrative Ayurvedic practitioner, she provides individuals with individualized health guidance. Her mission is to inspire others to lead healthy, active, vibrant lives and to eat sensibly. She provides individualized, in-person and online consultations in the Bay Area to help people reconstruct rituals and reach a balanced, healthy state in which their mind, body, and consciousness are all in harmony.
Usha completed her post-doctoral training in dermatology from Stanford University and holds a PhD in pharmacology and neuroscience from Ohio State University. She is an experienced pharmacologist and scientist who has overseen drug development, toxicology and discovery initiatives for numerous companies and medical specialties. Her areas of expertise span from oncology to dermatology, and she has a wealth of papers and years of FDA experience under her belt.
Heading Surrasa's product development, Dr. Nagavarapu combines her vast experience in scientific research with her knowledge. Her goal is to produce safe, all-natural solutions with artistic flair. Inspired by Ayurveda and other natural sciences, the organization is committed to revealing nature's mysteries and providing innovative treatments for long-term ailments and longevity. Before creating Surrasa, she led clinical programs and research as a founding team member of DermDx, a skin cancer screening company using Raman technology. Throughout her career, she has led cross-functional teams and programs in medical technology organizations, biotech companies, and small start-ups.
Usha believes in whole body health and understands that everyone has a story to tell. It is critical that we pay attention to the stories and the emotions behind them to comprehend their power to heal. Words form reality, and the world is made up of energy and any form of communication is an important tool for harnessing that energy to achieve balance and healing.
